This How-to covers detaching a contact from a Matter tree.
Note: Prevail will not allow you to detach a party from the matter tree, if that party has other parties attached to it. You would first have to detach the subordinate parties before detaching the primary attached party.

Click on the party you wish to detach in the matter tree.
Click the ‘Detach’ button above the matter tree.
This is located immediately to the right of the ‘Attach’/paper clip button.
Warning: You cannot detach parties who have any parties attached to the, without first detaching the subordinate parties.
Click ‘Detach’ to confirm.
