Prevail 10 E-Training*: Automatic Ledger Timer

The Automatic Ledger Timer allows you to seamlessly track time to automatically be added to the ledger of the corresponding matter. For more information on tracking time in Prevail, see Prevail 10 E-Training*: Ledger Tab.

Part 1: Ledger Timer Settings

  1. Click the button to the right of the timer

    • Default Time Keeper: Determines which user the time entry will post to on the ledger

      • Current User: Ledger entry posts to the ledger on behalf of the current user

      • Lead Attorney: Ledger entry posts to the ledger on behalf of the lead attorney assigned to that matter

    • Law Types that automatically start the Ledger Timer: When selected, the ledger timer will automatically start as soon as the user navigates to any tab within a matter corresponding to that law type, outside of the home tab.

Note: If the user goes to any matter that has a law type that was not selected, the timer can still be used manually.

Part 2: Starting and Stopping the Timer

  1. Click the play button to the left of the timer to start and pause the timer.

  2. Going to the home tab pauses the automatic ledger timer, which resumes when the user switches to any other tab.

Part 3: Saving your Ledger Entry

  1. A new ledger time entry will automatically open if:

    1. there is any value in the timer that does not equal zero

    2. the user either switches to a different matter or attempts to exit Prevail

Note: The Timekeeper and Hours fields will be prepopulated in the ledger time window.

  1. Populate the Subject and any other applicable fields.

  2. Save the ledger time entry.
