Prevail 10 E-Training*: Evidence Tab

The evidence tab tracks any evidence received for the selected matter. This could range anywhere from physical evidence to medical records.

Part 1: Listing Medical/Employment Records as Evidence

  1. [From the evidence tab] click ‘options’

  2. To include medical records as evidence, click ‘Display Medical Records’

  3. To include employment records as evidence, click ‘Display Employment Records'

Note: Doing this will include entries from their respective tabs in the evidence tab, exactly how they appear in the medical/employment tabs.

Part 2: Adding an Evidence Entry

Some users choose to enter medical records in the evidence tab. Because of this, there are many fields in evidence entries that are identical to medical tab entry fields.

  1. Click Add

Fill out the following fields, as needed.

Required Fields:

  • Subject

  • ‘Record From’

  • Attach Type

What the evidence is

Witness Statement

Category

Use the dropdown to select a category for the evidence.

Eyewitness
Evidence categories are customizable through the databank. For more info, see Prevail 10 E-Training*: Databank.

Bill

Enter an amount for the evidence, if applicable.

$85.00

Most relevant for medical records being entered into evidence.

Client/Opposition

Select the client or opposition this evidence entry is related to.

If one client is attached to the matter, this will be auto-selected.

Record From

  1. Click Attach

  2. Search for the contact the evidence was received from

  3. Double-click or click Attach. If not in Prevail, create a new contact and attach.

 

Attach Type

Use the dropdown to select the type of contact the evidence refers to.

This will default to the attach type associated with the contact.

Account Number

Used if you'd like to note the account number for the evidence.

Most relevant if a bill amount is entered.

From Date / To Date

Applicable for medical records. Enter the start and end of treatment.

Type in exact dates or general timeframes.

Records Requested

For medical or employment records. Select the date the records were requested.

 

Records Received

For medical or employment records. Select the date the records were received.

 

Submitted

For medical or employment records. Select the date records were sent to the required party.

 

Add to Damages/Ledger Cost

Check the appropriate box to post the entry as a damage or ledger cost.

 

Ledger/Damage Category

Select a category for the ledger or damage entry.

Pay to the Order

If applicable, click Attach and search for the contact to associate with this cost or damage. Double-click or click Attach.

 

Notes

Enter any notes you would like to include.

 

Attach

Use to attach any relevant records or documents to the entry.

If you attach a file, the subject will automate to the name of the file. This can be changed if needed.

Tip: You can attach a picture file in this entry.

Remember to click save to save the entry to the tab.
