Prevail 10 E-Training*: Medical Tab
The Medical tab contains a list of all medical providers attached to a client in a matter, as well as detailed treatment information. This is also a place you can track medical records being sent and received, and attach the records to a particular entry.

Instructions
The medical tab is split into 2 sections:
Medical Parties: This is a tree which lists all of the medical providers attached to this matter from the Related Parties tree
Medical History: Lists treatment corresponding to the provider selected in the Medical Parties Tree.
Note: When you attach a Medical Provider to the matter’s Related Parties Tree, Prevail will automatically open a Medical entry and attach that provider to the medical tab, as such when you add a medical entry from the Medical tab, that provider will automatically attach to the Related Parties Tree on the Matter tab.
Part 1: Attaching Providers to a Matter
There are three different ways to attach a medical provider in Prevail. This section explains these different methods
Option 1: Medical History Section:
Click on the Medical Tab
Click 'Add.'
A blank medical entry will appear.
Next to the Medical Provider field, click ‘Attach’
Type in the name of the medical provider, and hit enter, or click on the binoculars button
Double click the provider, or click attach.
Option 2: Medical Parties Section:
This is a snapshot of the Related Parties Tree. It functions the same way, and allows you to click on the specific provider to see the relevant information.
Click ‘Attach Medical Party’

Follow these steps to attach a medical provider from the Matter Tab:

Attach the medical provider to the Related Parties Tree.

The medical entry for that provider will automatically appear.
Part 2: Filling out a Medical Entry:
Below is a list of fields in a medical entry.
Note: The subject, Medical Provider, and Attach Type are required. All other fields are optional.

Attach Type | Use the dropdown to select the type of medical provider this entry refers to. | Emergency Room Defaults to the type of the attached Medical Provider |
From Date / To Date | Start and end of treatment. | You may type in exact dates or general timeframes |
Record Requested | Select the date medical records were requested. |

Record Received | Select the date medical records were received. |

Submitted | Select the date medical records were sent to the required party. |

Add to Damages/Ledger Cost | Check the appropriate box to post this entry as a damage or a ledger cost. |

Notes | Enter any notes in this textbox. |

Part 3: Medical Records Tracking:
How to Update the Medical Tab Once you've Requested Records:
Double click on the appropriate provider's entry on the Medical tab.
Enter the date that you are requesting records in the Records Requested field.
Click 'Save.'
How to enter records that have been received:
Enter the Records Received date
If necessary, update the From Date and To Date.
Note: Because the From Date and To Date fields are text fields, if you want to be able to sort your medical records entries in chronological order using either of those fields, enter the actual dates of service in the format, (Year/Month/Date)If you had to pay for the copies of the records, enter the amount you paid in the Bill field, check the Add to Costs box, and choose a Cost Category.
If your client had to pay any amount to this provider, you may enter that amount in the Bill field, check the "Add to Damages" box, and choose a Damages Category.
Use the attachment button to attach the records or scan them into the entry.
Click 'Save'.
