Texting – Adjusting Scan Interval

The SMS scan interval in Prevail, which monitors text messages in the user's email inbox, can sometimes contribute to slowness in certain situations, especially when there are a large number of emails. By default, this setting is configured to scan every 30 seconds. Adjusting the scan interval can help improve performance.

Step 1: Open the Registry Editor

To change the SMS scan interval, you need to access the Windows Registry Editor:

  1. Press Windows + R:

    • This opens the Run dialog box.

  2. Open Registry Editor:

    • Type regedit and press Enter.

    • If prompted by User Account Control (UAC), click Yes to allow changes.

Step 2: Navigate to the SMS Scan Interval Key

Once in the Registry Editor, follow these steps to locate the SMS scan interval key:

  1. Expand the Registry Tree:

    • In the left pane, expand the folders to navigate to the key.

  2. Path to Navigate:

    • Follow this path: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PrevailSettings\Outlook Email

  3. Locate the SMS Scan Interval Key:

Step 3: Modify the Scan Interval Value

To adjust the scan interval, modify the value of the SMS Scan Interval key:

  1. Open the SMS Scan Interval Key:

    • Double-click the SMS Scan Interval key to open the Edit String dialog box.

    • The value is in seconds. Enter a new value that suits your needs. For example:

      • For a 5-minute interval, enter 300.

  3. Save the Changes:

    • Click OK to save the new value.

  4. Close the Registry Editor:
