Backing up Prevail Data
It is extremely important that you backup your Prevail data as often as possible!
In order to do this, you'll need to save a copy of your PREVAIL_SERVER folder and PostgresDB12 folder which is located on the computer that acts as the firm’s Prevail Server.
The size of your database will determine the capacity that you will need for your backup device.
We recommend stopping the ‘PostgresSQL’ Service before making any copy to insure nothing is in use at that time. To do this follow the steps below.
Open the Run Dialog:
Press
Windows Key + R
to open the Run dialog.
Type "services.msc":
In the Run dialog, type
services.msc
and press Enter. This will open the Services management console.
Locate "PostgreSQL" Service:
In the Services window, scroll down or use the search bar to find the service named "postgresql-x64-12"
Stop the Service:
Right-click on the "PostgreSQL" service.
Select "Stop" from the context menu.
Wait for Confirmation:
Wait for the service to stop. You may see a status change in the "Status" column.
